Odapt

90% of ostomates experience leaks with today's ostomy bags. Odapt wants to eliminate this with a 3D printed, reusable, customized disc for two-piece ostomy bags that allows it to fit any type of stoma.

Odapt - Transforming the Ostomy Experience

The ostomy bag has hardly evolved since its invention in the 1950's. Even though is still an unknown subject, in Spain 1 out of every 500 people lives with an ostomy. The main problem associated with the ostomy bag is leakage caused by poor adhesion of the disc to the stoma. This project develops a proposal that solves the leaks by customizing the disc to the stoma and the patient's pathology.

 

Odapt is the first 3D printed disc that completely adapts to any stoma shape, helping the stoma outlet to go directly to the pouch, to avoid skin irritation and leaks. The 3D printing technology allows complete customization of Odapt, from the stoma shape to the color of the product.

 

Odapt has won the "People's Choice Award" in the Forward AM Innovation Award 2022 competition. It has also been nominated for the James Dyson Award 2022, as well as the Elisava Masters Awards 2023.
